PII is data or information that may be used to identify an individual. Some examples are name, driver's license number, photos, social security number, addresses, work place, etc.
All State employees have a responsibility to safeguard the PII of employees, partners, and members of the public to prevent misuse.
Teams should work together to identify the PII that you work with, how it is collected, and what it is used for. They should develop and document procedures for protecting PII, including how you store it, who can access it, and when to destroy it.
Reach out to the Privacy Group using this form for guidance identifying and handling PII.
